Chicks

For the second year, we hatched chicks at school.  The chicks sit in the incubator for 21 days and that part is not too exciting.  However, when day 21 approaches, it is beyond exciting.  I made David go with me to school two different nights just in case they had hatched.  When they finally stated hatching, I stayed at school way later than I should have just to watch.  There is nothing like it!

This year we had a bit of a "miracle" chick.  Five days after the others have hatched, we heard a cheeping.  We decided not to intervene with getting it out of its shell, because it did not look too good. The cheeping continued and eventually the chick broke out.  After breaking out, he looked like an overcooked baby.  We didn't have much faith that he would survive, but he got better and better by the hour.  It was amazing.  Eventually he was well enough to join his siblings in their new coop.  It was so cool!

{pictures are not in order...I apologize!}

I can not take credit for this picture.  Isn't it great?!
