Half Marathons

I have ran two half marathons recently and have two more scheduled before the marathon.  The first was in May and I ran it with my good friend Jennifer.  She came for the weekend and we also went to a Blackhawks playoff game.  The race went well even though it was pretty disorganized.

The second half was the weekend after school ended.  I signed up for it because there was a groupon for it.  I hurt myself after only a few miles and ended up taking it easy and just meeting people along the way.  It was not my worst time, but certainly not my best.  I think my pictures that were taken of me along the way sum it up pretty well!

This may be my favorite of all time.  Sorry I'm not sorry.

Holidays

Yet another blast from the past post...

The holidays were pretty good.  It was so nice to take a break from school and grad school.  We had a few parties to go to, including David's Uncle Mike's surprise party.  You may recognize him from the Empire Today commercials.  Yes, I married into a famous family.

David bought himself me a humongous tv for my present.   We have a pretty large bedroom and really couldn't see the tv from our bed.  We got a sofa and ottoman to sit in at the end of the bed, but there is nothing like just sitting in your bed and watching tv.  Therefore, I love it.

We went home for Christmas which was nice.  It was busy, but nice to see my family.  I only took one picture from when I was at my Dad's house.  Once we got to my Mom's (on Christmas) there was a snowstorm predicted.  So, David and John left early because they had traveling.  I stayed for a little bit and then brought Kathy back up north with me.

I love spending time with Kathy.  We did some fun things (no we didn't go ice skating) and ended up getting a flat tire!  I had to drive her to South Bend to meet up with her family because the train she was going to take got cancelled.  I didn't mind, I love doing things for my friends who appreciate them!

Friends!

I had some friends come to visit this summer.  I loooove visitors!  Although it was awhile ago now, I still want to post some pictures of our adventures!

My friends Kathy and Megan came (Why do I not have a picture of Megan??!!) and we went to Ann Sather's after a run.  It was so beyond good.

We also went to the Lincoln Park Zoo.  We thought this gal was pregnant for sure...the zookeeper told us she was on birth control though!

And...of course...we went to Sprinkles!  (BTW, David happened to bring a dozen cupcakes home for us this past weekend.  And I ate 4.  Whoops.)

This crazy statue is right by my house.  What in the world?!

My Little Sister Ashley came to visit all the way from San Diego!!!

We did soo many things, but this is from exploring the city with SeƱora B.

Best Ice Cream EVER!

My friend Jen came to town for a week-long conference with her school.  While she was here I went to visit her in Naperville.  It is not close to my house, but I wanted to see her.  We found a bar where we ate at and kept seeing people walk by with what looked like cookie dough in a bowl.  When we left, we looked next door and found the best ice cream shop ever.  You could either order straight cookie dough, or get several combinations of flavored cookie dough on ice cream.  I can not wait to go back someday!

I Love my Friends.

Two of my very best friends came to visit the last weekend in July.  They came the last weekend in July last year also, so we are going to try to make it a tradition!  It is soo nice to have people around you that you have such history with like Jen and Kathy.  I miss being around people like that!

I decided we were going to be tourists for the weekend!  We started out on Friday going to Ravinia for a concert.  It is an outdoor amphitheater, but is more of a lifestyle around here.  It is so pretty with all of the lights in the trees and you bring a picnic with your dinner.  We had fun to just listening to the music and being together.

We love Skinnygirl!

This picture doesn't give it justice!

On Saturday, we headed to Milwaukee!  We went up to see my friend from ASU, Brandon, and his girlfriend Andrea.  Our first stop was to a brewery for a tour and a reserved tasting paired with cheese.  I didn't realize there were soo many different kinds of beers!

After the tour, we headed over to the Brewers game.  Brandon and Andrea planned the tailgate, and the food was so so good!  Much better than my version of a tailgate.  It was soo very hot, but we made the best of it!

After the tailgate, we headed into the game.  We sat realllly high up, but it was a great view.  We were still so hot.  The people around us were definitely interesting and pretty drunk!  Fun times.

After the game, we headed back to our hotel.  Even though the drive is only about an hour, we thought it would be fun to spend the night.  The next day, we stopped at the Mars' Cheese Castle.  David can not drive by it without stopping in.

After the cheese stop, we went downtown for a chocolate tour.  I am leaving that for another post though...

A Race a Month - May

I continued my quest to run a race a month on May 7!  I ran the "Cinco de Miler" which was obviously a 5 mile race.  The best part was, I had a friend to run it with!  A group of my friends came up the day before and we went to a Cubs game.  We had a blast!  It is always fun having friends visit.  I also did better on the race compared to my last 5 mile one, which was exciting!
Jenny and Lauren!  We sat together, and the rest of the group sat down in the "good" seats!

You know I had to have an outfit, too bad we didn't get better pictures!

A Race a Month.

I officially have a new goal.  It started when I was down in Disney and heard someone talking about doing a half marathon each month.  I know that is not realistic, nor good for you, but it gave me an idea!  Instead of a half marathon a month, I could do some sort of race each month for a year!

To start reaching my goal, I signed up for The St Paddy's Day 5k in Naperville.  My friend Lauren ended up coming down for the weekend, so she decided to run it with me.  Unfortunately, the race was sold out!  We decided to head down there anyways and see what would happen if she would try to be a "bandit runner".  I gave her my race shirt and she ending up blending right in!  She ran ahead of me because she is super fast.  I ended up being happy with own time.  I let myself walk up a hill for a minute which I regret now.  I am hoping to get a 5k in the books under 30 minutes!

Below if a picture from after the race and my stats from their website!

Disney Princess Weekend 2011

Well, we did it again!  We survived another Disney Princess weekend!  I was a little nervous going into the weekend because our winter weather has made it difficult for me to run!  I spent most of my training on the treadmill which was both not fun and not as realistic to running outside.  I was also a little nervous because the weather was going to be so warm, which is tough for runners!  Nonetheless, we made it and loved every minute of it!

This year, I decided to run with my friend Jennifer.  We wore tutus and tiaras and stopped at each of the characters along the way to take pictures.  It equaled a higher clock time, but we had a blast!  Below are just a few of the pictures we took.  I can not wait for next year to do it all again!

Kathy and I at the expo...it was her birthday!

Jen at Il Mulino...our traditional pasta dinner!
