Chili

Chili is my version of a dog. She waits for me to wake up in the morning and follows me around throughout the day. She is always there to greet me when I come home. I say that I am her BFF. However, I think I need her just as much...

Cats.

Why do my cats enjoy drinking water out of anything other than their water bowl?

True Love.

Chili has truly found her place with us.  It has taken awhile, but I know she loves us!  I loved how she was laying on David the other day...(obviously not David's best angle, but I think he will forgive me)

My Girls.

Every morning, I am greeted by the sound of meows from my two cats.  They are always sitting in my bathroom, on top of the sink.  They yell at me to turn the faucet on, because they love drinking from the water.  Sometimes they drink together just fine, but it usually ends with Paige telling Chili to leave not so nicely.  Paige is definitely the diva amongst the two.  I took this video to show you what we see daily.  The first one is just the two drinking.  The second one is Paige pretending to be licking Chili, and then going in for a bite to her leg!

Enjoy!

Chili.

I have to share a funny store about our cat, Chili, with you.

The other night, John and I were on the sofa watching TV.  Chili came out and sat properly in front of us like she usually does.  I kept looking at her thinking that something was off but could not put my finger on it.  Finally, it hit me that she was a different color!  She had gotten into the fireplace (where she loves to hang out) and somehow managed to get black dust (or, whatever is in the fireplace?!) all over her white fur.  John and I laughed the rest of the night about it.

Boo

A few weeks ago, we lost our other family cat, Boo.  You may remember, that this spring we lost Nina.  Boo had been not herself for awhile and I am sure that losing her buddy did not help.
I remember getting Boo at a cat show after my brother John saw her and decided that we needed a black cat.  She was a great "phing" and even fetched when she was younger!  Boo, you will be missed!
My last picture of her.

Nina

This past week my family lost our cat Nina.  Nina was a Russian Blue and we picked her out as a young kitten.  When I was young, we went to a cat show where I saw a Russian Blue kitten.  I remember begging my parents to get one but they were not ready for a new kitten.  When my birthday rolled around, I was given a book about the breed and was told that I got to pick one out.  I can still remember going to a very old house and picking Nina out of the litter.  The woman whom we got her from put a nail polish mark in her ear so that we remembered which one we picked out (we did not take her home that day for some reason).  My grandmother Monica helped pick out the name because it was Russian.  Nina was shy at first but became a great family cat and friend to our other cat Boo.  Her health has deteriorated in the past years, but it is still sad to know she is gone.  Above is the last picture I took of her in October at my Mom's house.

Our Baby.

I just have to put some pictures up of our baby, Paige.  We have had her since she was 8 weeks old and she is great practice for the real deal.  I think she honestly thinks that she is a human right along side us.

Wrapped up like a baby.
I swear she thinks we can not see her in there...

Staring at me after a run...mad I left!

Crazy Cats.

I live with two very sweet cats, Paige and Chili.  They are well behaved for the most part, but often scream and scream when they are hungry!  Yesterday, I came home to a mess from them which is very unusual!  I accidentally left the lid off of my q-tip jar and they had a q-tip party!  I am not quite sure how they put their paws in the jar to dig out all of the q-tips, but they managed to take out every last one!  They were laid out all over my apartment, even in their food bowls!  Some q-tips still had their cotton end, but many did not.  I would have loved to seen a video of their day!  Below are two pictures.

Cashew.

David and I ran into Target the other day (which we frequently do) to pick up just a few things.  While shopping, we found this new toy for the girls (our cats, Paige and Chili).

We decided to get them their first Hanukkah toy!  When I was young, we often celebrated a little bit of Hanukkah along with Christmas.  My parents made up the nickname "Cashews" (Catholic - Jews). We are not sure how we will raise our own children, but I think it will be a little bit of both!  For now, we will start with our fur babies.
