Another blast from the past post...
Getting home from the marathon was insane. David wanted me to leave the day of the marathon when we heard others were leaving. He had rented a car the day we got there just in case. He was able to pick it up that day and thought we should just leave. My friend Kathy decided to leave that day and we all turned into emotional wrecks. I just couldn't figure out the best decision. I could either drive back with David, or wait until I could fly home.
I decided to drive with David (at least 14 hours) home. I needed to wait till the day after the race though. I just couldn't leave that night. So, we woke up at 5:00 and left. For anyone who knows me well, they know I do not go on car rides over 5 hours. So, this was a mentally and emotionally trying time for me. Surprisingly, I made it though! My body felt A-W-F-U-L though!!
I decided to stay home one more day of school that Tuesday. I just was not back emotionally or physically yet and didn't want to go back. When I did go back, I came into my room to the sweetest signs. My class was so worried about me. "High Fives for Mrs. Barnett!"
All in all, the marathon was totally side barred because of the marathon. I can not wait for a "do-over" with the Chicago marathon in the fall!
