House Updates - Carpet and Floors

Despite it's HIGH cost and HIGH tax payment, there are so many things that I want to do to our house to make it exactly what I would like.  The first place we started was the carpet and floors.  The carpet was gross and mismatched.  It had to go for sure.  The hardwood floors needed re sanding and I wanted a darker color.  I was happy with how the two things turned out.  We had this done before we moved in.

"Before" on the wood floors.

"Before" on the carpet.  This does not do it justice though.  It was gross.

Good bye gross carpet!!

Wood floors "after!"  And a sneak peak at paint...

Valentine's Day

Not SO far in the past...just a month ago!

Valentine's Day was nice.  It is always nice to spend time with 6 and 7 year olds that LOVE love.  They make my heart full.  David sent flowers and I got flowers from students.  I felt like my classroom was a flower shop.  I got lots of love from my class and David and I went out in the city.  It was a nice day full of love.

These are actually from my SWEET friend Jeni for my birthday!

Back view of David's flowers...

My loot!  My school does a candy gram where students and teachers can buy valentines.

What other job can you forever get a bag of valentines from?

DIY Jewelry Rack

I love Pinterest.  It gives me such good ideas.  Most of them are ones that I will eventually get to, or maybe never get to, this one was easy to finish though!  I found the idea and pinned it...I cant find it now though to give the person credit...

I was so proud of myself.  I went to the hardware store, used a drill, and finally figured out how to put screws in the wall.

I did this because I like to SEE my jewelry.  I never wear it when it is sitting in my jewelry box.  The dowels lift up and I can easily get what I want off of it.  I love it!

Holidays

Yet another blast from the past post...

The holidays were pretty good.  It was so nice to take a break from school and grad school.  We had a few parties to go to, including David's Uncle Mike's surprise party.  You may recognize him from the Empire Today commercials.  Yes, I married into a famous family.

David bought himself me a humongous tv for my present.   We have a pretty large bedroom and really couldn't see the tv from our bed.  We got a sofa and ottoman to sit in at the end of the bed, but there is nothing like just sitting in your bed and watching tv.  Therefore, I love it.

We went home for Christmas which was nice.  It was busy, but nice to see my family.  I only took one picture from when I was at my Dad's house.  Once we got to my Mom's (on Christmas) there was a snowstorm predicted.  So, David and John left early because they had traveling.  I stayed for a little bit and then brought Kathy back up north with me.

I love spending time with Kathy.  We did some fun things (no we didn't go ice skating) and ended up getting a flat tire!  I had to drive her to South Bend to meet up with her family because the train she was going to take got cancelled.  I didn't mind, I love doing things for my friends who appreciate them!

I'm 30?

I feel like I should post about my birthday.  It was pretty uneventful though.  I have learned that if I want something eventful, I need to plan it...that's another whole post though!

On Friday, I went out with some friends and went shopping.  Always fun!

On Saturday, we first got bagels in the morning.  A treat for me!  Then, David and I went to Disney on Ice.  This was definitely the highlight of the weekend.  I wish I could say that I am growing up and do not find these things exciting, but I cant.  In fact, I can not wait till we have kids and I can go to these things more!  David on the other hand... That night we went out with my brother and sister in law which was nice also.  I came home to receiving my National Board certificate in the mail and my brother's great present.  He bought "3" of all of my favorite foods.

On Sunday (my birthday) we pretty much did nothing.  It kind of stunk.  The only thing we really did was go to see "Identify Theft"  It was good, but...sigh.  Oh well!  There's always next year.
