Did you read the books? I loved them soo much and I am not afraid to admit it. I just wish Christian Grey was real!

Chicks
Please forgive me if I have already written about our classroom chicks. I went through my past posts and did not see any. I hate to not tell you about these cute things!
We had a new enrichment teacher this year that is WONDERFUL! She is up for anything and everything. One day we were talking and we realized that we each wanted to hatch chicks in the classroom, so we decided to make it happen. We got our school to approve buying all the equipment which included the eggs and the incubator. We kept the incubator in her room so that grades K - 3 could participate.
We did a lot of fun learning with the chicks and my class was in charge of blogging about them everyday. The chicks were in their eggs for 21 days, and then were supposed to hatch. Well, the time came and we thought they may hatch on a weekend. Someone came to check on them because there are all these procedures to do. No chicks. Monday came, no chicks. Tuesday came, no chicks. Wednesday came and we thought we had all goners. I began to prep my class (as I had been doing all along) for the fact that they were not going to hatch. BUT THEN, my friend Ali came running in because she heard chirping and a tiny hole had cracked on one egg. You have no idea what proud Mommies we became. It was a slow slow process, but eventually we saw more cracks and the first one hatched!!
Unfortunately, I was super sick and could not come to school on Thursday when most of them were hatching. I did get many updates throughout the day and was not sad to miss the ones that did not make it.
I could go on and on, but I think I have written too much. It was SUCH an amazing experience!!

Lately...
I am loving having summer break. I enjoy laying out by the pool! Hopefully this year I will not get ring worm from it! Did I just write that on here?!
My Paige. She thinks she is my baby.
My friend Stacy's daughter Mallory. I saw her when I went home, she is turning 1. She is ADORABLE and loves carrying around purses. Doesn't get much more girlie than that, and I love it!
I took this picture to try to get David to put it on his cell phone as a background. He didn't. He prefers putting players on it. He says he sees me enough. Boo hiss.
My cat Chili after we picked her up from the vet. She was having a tough time and weighed only 5lbs. Luckily, she is coming back to life and loves eating tuna. Hopefully we can get her to put on some weight!
David and I sitting on a back patio for lunch. We had it all to ourselves. I also wanted to try out the new camera because I had to get an iPhone 4S!
Chili, sleeping on her towel, in quite an odd position!

Mini Golf.
David and I have found a new past time, mini golf. Crazy, right?! We went one day on a whim and halfway through the course, David got mad at me and told me it was time to take it seriously. I have never been very talented or able to concentrate on any sport...especially sports involving balls (according to David!) So, I usually just have fun and don't care. However, after I actually tried, I got a hole in one! We have been hooked since. We have been trying out different courses, and I have managed to get at least one hole in one at each place. I have tied David, but never beat him. I think I will secretly not beat him just to save his ego. That will be our secret though!

Read This!
Do you want a quick summer read that will suck you in? Read "What Alice Forgot" by Liane Moriarty. It's not the best book you've ever read, but it certainly kept me interested and unable to stop!
I also read "Summer Rental" by Mary Kay Andrews. It is kind of along the same lines. I couldn't wait to see what happened, so kept reading.
Early this summer, I read "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. Not sure I could recommend this one. A little too deep and sad for a summer time read!

Field Day
For the field day this year, my school went with an Olympic theme. My little first graders were not even quite sure what the Olympics were. We had fun though! The kids were split into teams and were to dress up in their team colors. None of the teams picked USA, so the staff decided to be a team and compete for our country. In my usual fashion, I decided to take my dressing up seriously and made good use of my Disney Princess tutu. I can not say that I won any events (I even placed last in one...seriously...against 1-3 graders) but I did win first place for best costume!! That is really all that matters to me.

David's Birthday
Since I am officially an awful blogger, I am going to take you back to May to catch you up to our lives. At the end of May, David officially joined me and turned 29. I can not believe next year we will both be 30. I am not sure why, but that seems so surreal!
His birthday was on a Friday, so we celebrated all weekend. On Friday night, we went out to Sunda and David ate sooooo much. I was a little afraid for the drive home, truthfully. We made it though!
On Saturday, we met some of his family and friends at Dave and Busters. For some reason, they love playing those games! We had a fun time, except that David lost his wedding ring while playing the basketball game. Luckily, we got it back!
What should we do next year for the big one??
